Vacation to Yogyakarta

Vacation to Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta or Jogjakarta? It should be Yogyakarta, because there is a mention of DIY :)

Actually, we (the family) have indeed planned a destination to this city, but the time has not been determined. There are several travel sites that I have looked at, to compare if I go by public or private transport. But in personal experience, my son doesn’t seem to be right if he is invited to take public transportation.

It seems that the dipper welcomes this month, the school holidays have arrived. The date is also correct, June 27, 2022, so indeed after leaving here and returning directly to Bekasi to attend a cousin’s wedding around 19.00 to 21:00, then take a car and rest for a while at home. By preparing everything, finally at around 01.00 we started the journey and arrived at dawn at the KM 379 Rest Area followed by breakfast at the Semarang Solo KM 429 Toll Road Rest Area.

Oh yes, our plan was to spend 4 days and 3 nights and every day we stayed in a different place. I saw recreational places from several tourist sites, from which it turned out that they took places that were close to each other. So here are the results:

Day 1 :

I arrived at the Prambanan area at around 09.30 and went straight to the Opak Homestay where my colleague had been looking for information beforehand. Mas Dandi, the owner, after negotiation, I finally rented at Star Homestay Prambanan, the location is right behind the Prambanan Market, the cost is 500 thousand for 1 night.

The location is strategic, easy to find a place to eat both morning, afternoon and night and quite close to Prambanan Temple. Prambanan Temple was supposed to be the first place I would stop, but for some reason we planned the next day.

Breksi Cliff was on my list of visits and it was about 15 minutes away from the inn and after that continued to Obelix Hills. For Breksi Cliff, it is recommended to arrive at the location in the morning or evening because if it is during the day, the hot sun is very felt. Probably only 2 hours I was here and continued to Obelix Hills.

To be honest, I was a bit hesitant when I went to Obelix Hills considering the road was a bit unfriendly in my opinion (paved but very steep road) I even had time to ask the residents’ houses to confirm the location (at that time suddenly my XL signal was cut off). Indeed, if the distance in Google Maps is only about 15-20 minutes, but maybe 30 minutes I finally arrive at my destination. Taking pictures and having dinner then at around 20.00 I left the location.

It’s quite strange for me, the Obelix Hills exit route turns out to be different from the coming route (my guess was that the route came and came back the same because when we came there was a car in the opposite direction, even though it could be said that the route was really tight). It turns out that the descent lane is faster, maybe about 10 minutes to get back on the highway. My question is, why don’t you enter Obelix Hills just go through the exit route which is closer and safer (not steep), I don’t know why I came from Breksi Cliff to have to go through the path?

I recommend going to Obelix Hills before night to arrive at the location because of the lack of lighting and the steep road.

Day 2 :

Prambanan Temple, I did not buy a direct ticket to Borobodur Temple (25 thousand more savings) because there may be a change in the plan even though Borobodur Temple is indeed included in our plan the next day. Oh yes, because the regular ticket counter was full of queues, finally the officer suggested buying tickets online and could be exchanged for counter 3 which was indeed not in line, but it turned out that when I had bought it, counter 3 was closed and told to queue to the regular counter, apes dah hahaha.

Maybe only 1 and a half hours we were here and continued to the icon of Yogya, Malioboro. Actually, many locations are on the list of visits such as Yogya Square and the Palace, but due to obstacles in the lodging that I have booked earlier. Made us skip the visit and was busy looking for lodging until the afternoon.

Yes, 2 times we entered the Malioboro area, it turned out that it was more difficult to find a car parking lot than lodging. Some of the hotels and homestays that I visited, were indeed beyond my budget and some were cheap but there was no car parking. Hahaha it’s dizzy.

Finally we stayed at Dewi Homestay, even after successfully ensuring that we got a place to park the car, 600 thousand per night. I deliberately looked for the Malioboro area so that I could walk along the area.

Day 3 :

At noon we arrived at Borobodur Temple, unfortunately at that time there was a stupa closure, so we could not go up. When at the exit, there was a Svargabumi Borobudur ticket counter, indeed this was also on my list, finally I bought a ticket and it could be used for the next day’s visit. That night we stayed at Griya Perpil (the previous version of Google Maps was Griya Merpil, I had edited it after I discussed with the owner), the location was right next to Svargabumi Borobudur.

Because indeed I was looking for Svargabumi Borobudur so I thought that place was the entrance and it turned out not to be, but a resident’s house, so we rented it for 400 thousand.

Day 4 :

We were the first people to go to Svargabumi Borobudur because it was only about 2 minutes on foot, hahaha. Morning and evening are indeed recommended times to visit. After 60 minutes of us taking pictures, it was finally time to return to Jakarta.

See you again on our next vacation, thank you.
