Hard Disk Partition with AOMEI Partition

Hard Disk Partition with AOMEI Partition

Laptops that have the original OS installed, generally only consist of 1 partition (visible), namely C. Actually there are also other partitions but they are not shown in Windows Explorer.

Here’s a guide to creating a hard disk partition in Windows 10 with the free version of the AOMEI Partition application.

  1. Open the following link https://www.diskpart.com/download-home.html then click Download Freeware or you can directly click https://www2.aomeisoftware.com/download/pa/PAssist_Std.exe, wait until the download is complete.

Note: The images and versions below are screenshots at that time, so it is definitely different if you download it at a later time, the difference between the image and the version of the application at that time.

  1. Click the file then click OK- Skip – Install Now and Enjoy Now as shown below and AOMEI Partition will open automatically.

  1. If it doesn’t open automatically, click AOMEI Partition on the Desktop and here’s how it looks. Please note, if drive C has Bitlocker Encrypted info, then follow these steps so that the HDD can be partitioned, but if it’s only C, please go to step 7.

  1. Click the Windows button and then type device encryption settings.

  1. Click Turn off and wait for the process to finish.

  1. Reopen AOMEI Partition and make sure the display for drive C is as follows.

  1. Right click on C: Windows-SSD then select Resize/Move Partition.

  1. Fill in the desired size on the Partition size or slide the green white circle, click OK.

  1. The partition size in C will change and there will be partitions left after it. Right click on the empty partition and select Create Partition.

10. Repeat as in step 9, but in this you can select the partition letter afterwards, in this case I select D on the Drive Letter and File System NTFS and give the Data label in the Partition Label (click Advanced). I only want to create 2 partitions, namely C and D, so I will automatically allocate all the remaining partitions, then click OK.

Note: If your hard disk size is large enough for example 1 TB and you want to create 3 or 4 partitions, then repeat step 9 and 10 for as many partitions as you want to create.

11. The following shows the 2 partitions, click Apply for the next process, then click Proceed and OK.

12. The partition process will run under Windows (the laptop will restart automatically) and wait for the process to finish as shown below.

13. Please open Windows Explorer and make sure the results are as shown below.

Good luck and thank you.

Solution The file or Directory Is Corrupted and Unreadable

Solution The file or Directory Is Corrupted and Unreadable

The above problem message (The file or Directory Is Corrupted and Unreadable) appears when I attach an external hard disk (EHD) to my laptop. The EHD condition at that time was as usual (turned on and did not sound). Here are the steps I took to fix it and thank God it worked.

  1. Open a command prompt and type CHKDSK H: /F /R (drive H is matched with the problematic drive).

Actually, it’s just the steps above, hahaha. The rest is just waiting for the results, the time process depends on the laptop specifications and EHD capacity.

In this repair, it took approximately 1 hour with the specifications of an Intel Core i5 laptop, 8 GB RAM and 500 GB HDD. If it still doesn’t work, maybe you can try other ways such as replacing the EHD case, but if several options have been made and still fail or a new error message may appear, it is possible that the EHD has been damaged, the last option is of course bringing to the experts to dismantle the EHD.

Thank you and good luck.

Choosing an External Hard Disk

Choosing an External Hard Disk

Do not have an external hard disk? no problem.

I just want to share it if you want to buy HDE, first check the price, then the next capacity of the brand and the last is up to you but there are (maybe) missed (and I also missed it before there is a case below), oh yeah, don’t forget to pay attention Your device’s OS (Operating System), for HDE now generally only supports Windows 7 OS and above and Mac (certain types), for Windows XP OS, its HDE is hard to find, except yes unless you open the HDE case and move it to the HDE case support for Windows XP (for casing, there are still many sold on the market).

I think HDE is separate between the hard disk (HD) and the casing(*), because of some of the HDE I’ve ever opened, it’s always separate. I got this problem when a friend asked for a check for HDE (2.5 “/ about the size of a notebook HDD) which was problematic and indeed I checked it was unstable for power and I asked for permission to open it, and then I found out that the HD and the case became one. So in the sense that the HD is already installed with data and power components (inseparable) and the repair process is also quite difficult (unless done by experts).

(*) the purpose of the case here is the HD cover and the plug (data and power) components are separate from HD.

So my intention in this sharing is, if you want to buy HDE, it would be nice if you search for advance information whether the HDE is separate between HD and the case, for this I suggest you can search on Youtube (because there is a video directly how to open it). This is intended, if the HDE experiences a problem, it can make it easier to check, whether it is HD or the case. If HD, just buy HD again and vice versa.

This time I opened the 4 TB (3.5″) HDE Seagate Expansion Desktop which I just bought in April 2018, why did I buy it? yes because the HD and the casing are separate. Here’s the result after I open it (actually want to make the video, but when opening the cover, it’s quite difficult). For HDE size 2.5″ there is also a separate one.

“Note: opening the casing during the warranty period will cause the warranty to disappear, please do it wisely.”

Why does the above not mention HDE that is integrated with the case? because I don’t want to corner certain brands. Am I pro to Seagate? not really, because the above example I have violated the warranty rules (forfeited warranties) with my own risk that the real thing might not even need to be done because there is already a lot of information on the Internet.

As I mentioned above, many HDE brands are also like the ones above separated from HD with their casing, but again my goal for this article is to make it easier to check if there is damage. Hope you get the best.
