Copy Data with Samsung Smart Switch

Copy Data with Samsung Smart Switch

Continuing the  previous article, this time  I will use the Samsung Smart Switch (SS) app  on a PC/laptop to back up the data on HP.  The app can be downloaded here  with a  size of about 39.2 MB. The installation process is quite easy, click Next and Finish and if the  PC / laptop at that time is still connected to the  internet, then it  will be checked for application updates, wait until you’re done and then click OK.  Oh yes, I will back up data from Samsung Galaxy A70 (SM-A705F)  and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) (SM-A750GN).

Here’s the guide :

1. In the SS  application that has been opened, connect the HP device to be backed up (in this case I backup the Samsung Galaxy A70 first). If your device uses a password, please open it first.

2. Select Allow if the image appears as follows.

3. If  your HP device is connected, click Backup.

4. Select the data to back up and then click OK and wait for it to finish and  then click OK.

5. SS will inform the data that  is not backed up and the result of the backup, click OK to close it.

6. Next I will remove the Samsung Galaxy A70 and connect the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) HP.  Unlike  before, this time the  SS  application detected an application update for the  Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), click Update – Continue – Continue and wait for it to finish and  then click OK and  will go back to the start page.

7. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as above  until the result is like step 5.

So the step to back it up, how to restore it?  it’s actually easy, just click Restore and follow the  next step, but at that time  I didn’t have a  chance to try it.  Just pray that I have  a chance to discuss it.  Thank you.

Moving Data with Samsung Smart Switch

Moving Data with Samsung Smart Switch

Usually if we buy a new cellphone, surely we want all the data in the old cellphone to move to a new cellphone, such as pictures, songs, contacts, etc. If the new cellphone is still one brand with an old cellphone, the possibility is not too difficult, because the data transfer application is already available from the cellphone. Constraints will be found if different brands, it requires third-party applications to process it and not necessarily perfect.

This time I will move data from Samsung J5 to Samsung A7 with the Smart Switch (SS) application that is available on each of these HPs. Before doing, make sure the battery condition in each HP above 50% is sufficient for the duration of the transfer. Here’s the guide.

  1. Run the SS application on both phones. Click Agree and Start for the next process.

  1. On Samsung J5, select Send data and on Samsung A7, select Receive data.

  1. Select Wireless on both of these phones as connecting media.

  1. On Samsung J5, select the data you want to transfer, then click Send.

On the Samsung A7, select the OS from the old cellphone, in this case I choose Android.

  1. The search process between HP will take place and on Samsung A7 will ask for confirmation to receive data from Samsung J5, click Receive for the next process.

  1. For the finished time depends on the amount of data that is moved, and if it has been completed, then the configuration on the new HP will be similar (depending on the features of HP) with the old cell phone, among others, telephone call logs, SMS, contacts, email configuration (enough re-enter the password for verification), third-party applications will also be installed on the new HP according to the old cellphone, but not including the previous login and data, for the WA application to be backed up via Google so that it will be restored later, including the wallpaper will also be installed automatically.

Besides the method above, there is also a Smart Switch application for PC, if there is a chance again I will try it. Thanks.

Easy Mirroring & Youtube Casting Guide

Easy Mirroring & Youtube Casting Guide

Continuing the previous article, this time I will discuss the Easy Mirroring feature and Youtube Casting.

Easy Mirroring (EM), is the name of the feature found on this Panasonic TV, the possibility of different names from other brands, as well as the name on the Smartphone (HP) if the feature is available, on the Asus HP (Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE551KL, Asus Zenfone 2 The ZE551ML and Asus Zenfone 5Q) are PlayTo and Multi-screen Interaction on the Oppo F7. As the name implies, this feature will display the same image from the HP screen to the TV screen using wireless media and without the need to connect to the internet. Please ensure that wireless media on TV and HP has been activated to connect.

Following are the Easy Mirroring terms and guidelines on Asus HP and their pictures :

Requirements :

  1. Activate the wireless feature on the HP (no need to connect to the router or Access Point).
  2. Activate the Easy Mirroring feature on the TV (by default it is on) and the TV is on (not idle mode).

Guide :

  1. Select Settings – More on Wireless & networks.
  2. Select PlayTo then the HP will search for surrounding media.

  1. Select the device found and then HP will ask for permission to connect to the TV set.

  1. If permitted, Easy Mirroring will automatically occur on HP and TV with the Airplay logo (on the upper left side) and wireless transmission (in the top center).

  1. The process that I tried there was a pause of about 1-2 seconds between the moves on the cellphone and the TV.

For Oppo F7 :

  1. Select Settings – Other Wireless Connections – Multi-screen Interaction, swipe right to activate it.

  1. Select Search to search for devices, and the rest like steps 3 and 4 above.

Youtube Casting (YC), this is naming myself, you are free if you want to give a different name, in essence is to display Youtube broadcasts from mobile phones to TV. Unlike EM, YC will only show on TV the videos played from the Youtube application on HP and we can still open other menus without interrupting the video.

The requirement is that it requires an internet connection both on cellphone and TV (because it will open a Youtube application on TV, even though I have offline videos on Youtube, it won’t be able to be played on TV if there is no internet connection).

There are 2 ways in this process according to information that can be seen from Youtube Settings on TV, namely :

  1. Connection with wireless media.

HP and TV (in live condition, not standby mode) are connected in the same network (can use wireless or wired media for TV). Open the Youtube application on the cellphone, then the Casting icon will appear, select the icon, it will immediately open the Youtube application on the TV.

At this time I just did a test from 1 TV, maybe if there are 2 Smart TVs, the option will appear for the Casting selection.

  1. Connection with code.

If there is a SMART TV that is connected to the Internet but the HP (using a data plan) is not connected to the router or AP (the same network as the TV), is it possible? This can still be done through unit code from Youtube on TV, why do I call it unique? because the code will continue to change.

The way to connect with the code is :

a. Open the Youtube application on HP, select the profile image (top right corner) and select Settings in Account.

b. Select Watch on TV, select ENTER TV CODE, enter the code obtained from the Youtube application on TV (open the Youtube application on TV, select After and select Link with TV code, the TV code will appear), click Link, then the HP has been connected with The TV.

To view devices connected to Smart TV, open the Youtube application and select Settings – Linked devices.

What if the first cellphone is connected first, then there are 2 or 3 next cellphones that do the casting simultaneously? The result is that all the videos (other than the first cellphone) that were supposed to be played will turn into the first HP video that was being played at that time on another cellphone screen, which is fair enough to me, so who connected first, he mastered the TV. Another thing if I choose Add to Queue, it will be the queue from before.

I returned, the two features above (EM and YC) cannot work together. Such is the temporary information that I can convey, thank you.

Note: I have edited this article again because of the addition of Asus Zenfone 5Q and Oppo F7 devices.
