Copy Data with Samsung Smart Switch

Copy Data with Samsung Smart Switch

Continuing  the previous article, this time I will use the Samsung Smart Switch (SS) application on a PC / laptop tobackup data on a cellphone. The application can be downloaded here with a size of about 39.2 MB.

The installation process is quite easy, click Next and Finish and if the PC / laptop at that time is still connected to the internet, then an application update will be checked, wait for it to finish and then click OK.

Oh yes, I will backup data from Samsung Galaxy A70 (SM-A705F) and Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) (SM-A750GN).

Here is the guide :

  1. In the SS application that has been opened, connect the cellphone device that will be backed up (in this case I backed up the Samsung Galaxy A70 first). If your HP device uses a password, please unlock it first.

  1. Select Allow if the following image appears.

  1. If your HP device is connected, click Backup.

  1. Select the data to be backed up then click OK and wait for it to finish then click OK.

5. SS will inform you of the data that is not backed up and the result of  the backup, click OK to close it.

6. Next, I will remove the Samsung Galaxy A70 cellphone and connect the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) cellphone. Unlike before, this time the SS application detects an application update for the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018), click Update – Continue – Continue and wait for it to finish then click OK and will return to the start page.

7. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as above until the result is like step 5.

That’s the step to back it up, how to restore it  ? It’s actually easy, just click Restore and follow the next step, but at that time I didn’t have the opportunity to try it. Just pray that I will have a chance to discuss it. Thanks.

Transfer Data with Samsung Smart Switch

Transfer Data with Samsung Smart Switch

Usually if we buy a new cellphone (HP), of course we want all data on the old cellphone to move to the new cellphone, such as pictures, songs, contacts, etc. If the new cellphone is still the same brand as the old cellphone, it may not be too difficult, because there is already a data transfer application available from the cellphone aforementioned. Obstacles will be encountered if the brand is different, then a third-party application is needed to process it and it is not necessarily perfect.

This time I will transfer data from Samsung J5 to Samsung A7 with the Smart Switch (SS) application that is already available on each cellphone. Before doing, make sure the battery condition in each cellphone is above 50% so that it is sufficient during the transfer time. Here’s the guide.

  1. Run the SS application on both cellphones. Click Agree and Start for further processing.

  1. On the Samsung J5, select Send data and on the Samsung A7, select Receive data.

  1. Select Wireless on both cellphones as the connecting medium.

  1. On the Samsung J5, select the data you want to transfer, then click Send.

On the Samsung A7, select the OS of the old cellphone, in this case I choose Android.

  1. The search process between cellphones will take place and on the Samsung A7 will ask for confirmation to receive data from the Samsung J5, click Receive for the next process.

  1. For the completion time depends on the amount of data transferred, and if it has been completed, then the configuration on the new cellphone will be similar (depending on the cellphone features) with the old cellphone, among others, phone call logs, SMS, contacts, email configuration (just re-enter the password for verification), third-party applications will also be installed on the new cellphone according to the cellphone old time, but excluding logins and previous data, for the WA application can be backed up first via Google so that it is easy to restore later, including the wallpaper will also be installed automatically.

In addition to the method above, there is also using the Smart Switch application for PC, if there is a chance again I will try it. Thanks.

Easy Mirroring & Youtube Casting Guide

Easy Mirroring & Youtube Casting Guide

Continuing the previous article, this time I will discuss the Easy Mirroring and Youtube Casting features. Easy Mirroring (EM), is the name of the feature found on this Panasonic TV, it may be different from the name of other brands, as well as the name on the Smartphone (HP) if the feature is available, on the Asus HP (Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE551KL, Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML and Asus Zenfone 5Q) is PlayTo and Multi-screen Interaction on the Oppo F7. As the name implies, this feature will display the same image from the cellphone screen to the TV screen using wireless media and without the need for an internet connection. Please make sure the wireless media on the TV and cellphone is activated so that it can be connected.

Here are the requirements and guidelines for Easy Mirroring on Asus cellphones along with their pictures:

Requirement:

  1. Enable the wireless feature on the cellphone (does not need to be connected to a router or Access Point).
  2. Enable the Easy Mirroring feature on the TV (it is on by default) and the TV is on (not standby mode).

Guide on Asus HP:

  1. Select Settings – More under Wireless & networks.

2. Select PlayTo and the cellphone will search for media around it.

  1. Select the found device and then HP will ask for permission to connect to the TV device.

  1. If allowed, Easy Mirroring will automatically occur on cellphones and TVs marked with the Airplay logo (on the upper left side) and wireless transmission (in the upper center).

5. The process I tried had a gap of about 1-2 seconds between the transfer on the cellphone and the TV.

For HP Oppo F7 :

  1. Select Settings – Other Wireless Connections – Multi-screen Interaction, swipe right to enable it.

  1. Select Search to search for the device, and the rest is like steps 3 and 4 above.

Youtube Casting (YC), this is my own naming, you are free if you want to give a different name, in essence it is to display Youtube broadcasts from cellphones to TV. Unlike EM, YC will only display on the TV videos played from the Youtube application on the cellphone and we can still open other menus without disturbing the course of the video.

The requirement is that you need an internet connection on both your cellphone and TV (because you will open the Youtube application on your TV, even if I have offline videos on Youtube, it will not be able to be played on your TV if there is no internet connection).

There are 2 ways in this process according to the information that can be seen from Youtube Settings on the TV, namely:

  1. Connection with wireless media.

The cellphone and TV (in the living condition, not standby mode) are connected in the same network (can use wireless media or cable for TV). Open the Youtube application on your cellphone, then the Casting icon will appear, select the icon and it will immediately open the Youtube application on the TV.

Currently, I have only done a test from 1 TV, it is possible that if there are 2 Smart TVs, there will be an option for the selection of the Casting.

  1. Connection with code.

If there is a SMART TV that is already connected to the internet but the cellphone (using a data package) is not connected to the router or AP (the same network as the TV), is it possible? This can still be done through the unit code from Youtube on TV, why do I call it unique? because the code will continue to change.

The way to connect with the code is :

  • Open the Youtube app on your TV, select Settings – Link with TV code.

  • Open the Youtube application on your cellphone, select your profile picture (upper right corner) and select Settings on Account.

  • Select Watch on TV, select ENTER TV CODE, enter the code obtained from the Youtube application on the TV (open the Youtube application on the TV, select After and select Link with TV code, the TV code will appear), click Link, then the cellphone is connected to the TV.

To see the devices connected to your Smart TV, open the Youtube app and select Settings – Linked devices.

What if the first cellphone is connected first, then there are 2 or 3 other cellphones that do Casting simultaneously? The result is that all the videos (other than the first cellphone) that should be played will turn into the first cellphone video that is being played at that time on the screen of the other cellphone, quite fairly in my opinion, so whoever connects first, he is the one who controls the TV. Another thing is that if I select Add to Queue, it will be the queue from before.

I inform you again, the two features above (EM and YC) cannot run together. That’s the provisional information that I can convey, thank you.

Note: I have re-edited this article because there is an addition of Asus Zenfone 5Q and Oppo F7 devices.
