Goodbye BlackBerry Messenger
Thursday night, April 18, 2019 at around 21:45 WIB, as usual, after arriving at the office, I browsed several sites to find out information about and was quite surprised when I read the title of the article above. After confirming the official website, the news is indeed true. Here are some screen shots from https://blog.bbm.com/2019/04/18/time-to-say-goodbye-english-version/ site.
BlackBerry (BB) has its own nostalgic story for me. The first time I touched a BB device around 2008, namely the BB Bold 9000 which still uses a trackball, belongs to a boss who wants to set up email and activate BlackBerry Messenger (BBM). Indeed, at that time, of the few devices I had tried, only BB was arguably the most successful in the push email service.
In 2010, I had my own BB for the first time, namely BB Torch 9800, the price at that time was around 5 million rupiah. I had a reason why I only bought BB at that time, because there was a physical keyboard and touch screen in 1 device. Before buying the BB, at that time I still had a Nokia C6, which had a touch screen and a physical keyboard as well, only the sliding model was different. Phones that used physical keyboards at that time still dominated compared to touch screens, so it needed a little adaptation to these changes.
PING PING PING, a very distinctive sound from BB, which may still be used by people today in WA, but only P P P only. There was no privacy at that time, so there was something like waiting for 1 year for an answer whose status was R, hehehe.
I was quite satisfied with using the BB, until finally BB released a tablet device to enliven the market from other competitors. The 16 GB BB Playbook (PB) fell into my hands a year later. The reason I bought PB is because it can be connected to BB, it’s quite easy to do fuel from this PB. I don’t know after some PB cameras were damaged, so it was quite annoying and there was no more updates and support for the device, until finally I first museumed this device.
Here’s the look of Nokia C6, BB and BP that I found back after a long time of storage, goodbye friend, thank you for accompanying me on my communication journey, hehehe.
